Peter Thiel, Facebook executive, has confirmed for BusinessWeek, that the company did try to buy the microblogging site Twitter, last year, but failed do to do. "It became pretty clear it wasn't going to happen. The deal would have to be done with Facebook stock. And then you have to figure out how much the stock is worth", Peter Thiel told the magazine.
According to recent court documents, Facebook has valued themselves to around 3.7 billion dollars, while Microsoft's investment has risen its value to 15 billion dollars.
Twitter was thought to be worth 500 million dollars at the time, but analists think that its valuation would have actually been a good deal lower.
