There used to be a lot of patches to remove Yahoo! Messenger ads but since version 9, they stopped working but I found a small application that can remove the ads (banners) in almost any version of Yahoo Messenger.
Ad Banner Remove Plus for Yahoo Messenger can remove the ads from the contact list, from the webcam window, chatroom and as a bonus: lets you run mutiple instances of Yahoo Messenger (Yahoo Multi Messenger).
Ad Banner Remover Plus supports all Yahoo Messenger 8 Builds and all Yahoo Messenger 9 Builds up to Yahoo Messenger 9.0.0..2160.
If the Yahoo Messenger Version shows up as 0.0.0.0 simply click the Fix Version button.
Note: If you have already patched a version of Yahoo Messenger and update to a newer build of Ad Banner Remover Plus you will need to click the Clean button first.
Vista Users: Right click on Ad Banner Remover Plus and Select "Properties", click on the "Compatibility tab" then check "Run this program as an administrator"
Update: Ad Banner Remover Plus - Version 1.0.4.2 deletes Yahoo Messenger 10 ads (banners). Not only that, but also:
- Enable / Disable Multiple Instances of Yahoo Messenger 10, 9, or 8
- Disable "Automatically start Yahoo Messenger" - When Windows Starts
- Enable/Disable Smiley Search - Yahoo Messenger 10 Only
