SopCast Player is designed to be an easy to use Linux GUI front-end for the p2p streaming technology developed by SopCast. SopCast Player features an integrated video player, a channel guide, and bookmarks. Once SopCast Player is installed it simply "just works" with no required configuration.
Download SopCast Player (source files, .deb and .rpm are currently available).
You will need to install sp-auth before installing sopcast-player. For Debian-based distros you will need to install the architecture-specific versions of sp-auth and sopcast-player (32-bit versus 64-bit). For RPM-based distros, install the i386 version of sp-auth (this will work for both architectures) and then install architecture-specific version of sopcast-player.
You can get sp-auth from the SopCast download page.
Ubuntu users: If you haven't installed the medibuntu repository you should do so before installing SopCast Player, without it you will be unable to satisfy the VLC requirement. A medibuntu repository installation guide can be found here.
Update: you can now install the Linux SopCast player in Ubuntu via a PPA
