Subtitle Editor is a GTK+2 tool to edit subtitles for GNU/Linux/*BSD. It can be used for new subtitles or as a tool to transform, edit, correct and refine existing subtitle. This program also shows sound waves, which makes it easier to synchronise subtitles to voices.
Since there is no PPA updated with the latest Subtitle Editor version (not even 0.36.0), I decided to update the package in the WebUpd8 PPA (Subtitle Editor packages only available for Ubuntu Karmic and Lucid - 32 and 64 bit) to this latest version (0.36.1). If you already have the WebUpd8 PPA added to your sources.list and SubtitleEditor installed, all you have to do is:
If not, add the WebUpd8 PPA using the following command:
And then install SubtitleEditor 0.36.1:
For an alternative to Subtitle Editor, see Gnome-Subtitles.
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
If not, add the WebUpd8 PPA using the following command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
And then install SubtitleEditor 0.36.1:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install subtitleeditor
For an alternative to Subtitle Editor, see Gnome-Subtitles.
