minitube 1.0 ubuntu

Minitube 1.0 was released yesterday. So what is Minitube?

Minitube is a native YouTube client for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. With it you can watch YouTube videos in a new way: you type a keyword, Minitube gives you an endless video stream. Minitube does not require the Flash Player.

Version 1.0 finally brings Full HD (1080p) video support, as well as other minor new features such as the ability to copy the YouTube link and the video stream URL to the clipboard.

Minitube comes with an Ubuntu PPA, but unfortunately version 1.0 has not been added to the PPA. However, you can download a .deb file:

Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx:

Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala:

For more info on Minitube 1.0, source file and Mac OS X Downloads (Windows builds are not yet ready), visit the Minitube page.

And don't forget to also check out Minitunes, another project by Flavio Tordini (the developer of Minitube), which we wrote about 2 weeks ago.

Update: I replaced the download link for the .deb created by Linux Freedom For Live with new packages for Karmic and Lucid created by launchpad (I only uploaded them and used the original Minitube packaging for 0.9) so it should now work for everybody.

[Special thanks to Linux Freedom for Live!]
