Pinta (which we've covered before) is a lightweight alternative to Paint.NET which uses C# (Mono). Version 0.3 was released 2 days ago and it includes 3 new tools, 25 new effects, and several GUI improvements. Additionally, several reported bugs were fixed and small enhancements were added. Pinta works on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. There is an Ubuntu PPA available but it hasn't been updated to the latest Pinta 0.3. However, you can convert the .rpm to .deb and install it - seems to work just fine, so to download and install Pinta 0.3 in Ubuntu, run the following commands:
