Well here is something I for one wasn't aware of: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat will ship with Firefox 3.6. That's not because there's something wrong with Firefox 4.0, but because the first Firefox 4.0 release candidate is scheduled for October, the same month Ubuntu 10.10 will be released.
This is been confirmed by Ubuntu developer Chris Coulson, although a confirmation wasn't actually necessarily if you look at the Firefox release schedule.
But of course, Ubuntu 10.10 could have been released with a beta/rc version of Firefox. If they did it for a long term release (Ubuntu 8.04 LTS was released with Firefox 3.0 beta 5), why not do it again for 10.10 since Firefox 3.6 is so slow compared to other browsers?
Many thanks to Starks for the tip!
