After seeing how Nautilus looks using the latest Ambiance theme with dark toolbars in Ubuntu Oneiric Ocelot, WebUpd8 reader Erkka has created two mockups on how Nautilus would look like with a dark toolbar or with the toolbar above the sidebar:

For comparison, here's how Nautilus currently looks like using the latest Ambiance theme in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot:
The dark sidebar is already possible and only requires some Ambiance tweaks but unfortunately the toolbar above sidebar requires modifications to Nautilus itself so it's unlikely this is going to happen unless the Nautilus elementary project will continue to exist for Nautilus 3 too (and since elementary will use Marlin instead of Nautilus, this is probably not going to happen).
