The GNOME developers are working on new application designs for Music, Photos, Chat, Transfers, Weather, Web, Mail, Calendar, Videos, Maps, Boxes (application for accessing other computer systems or images) and Notes as well as a redesign for Documents and Contacts. Here are a few very interesting mockups:

I've asked Allan Day in a comment on his
blog if "Music" is a new design for Rhythmbox or a completely new application and here's the answer:
That’s up to the Rhythmbox developers. :) We’re working hard to talk to all the involved parties, and we’d love to work with existing project contributors if they are willing.
He also says that "these application designs are looking pretty awesome, and we’re already had developers stepping up to work on them".
Other possible changes in the upcoming GNOME release include: refreshing the GNOME Dictionary design, a new GNOME Credentials application, zoom options redesign, updates to the GNOME's default font (Cantarell), System Settings updates and more. More info @
